Sciences (WCUMS), was established in 1910, by the joint effort of five Christian
missions from the United States, Great Britain and Canada. In 1950, the University
was taken over by the central people's Government and was renamed as Sichuan
medical college. In 1985, as a result of China's educational reformation and
development, this university was renamed as West China University of Medical

Sciences was merged with Sichuan University in the year 2000. After merger,
West China University of Medical Sciences is known as West China Center of
Medical Sciences, Sichuan University.
Sichuan University is a key comprehensive university directly under the state
Ministry of Education. Sichuan University is a "211 Project" university of Central
Government. Sichuan University has established friendly cooperative ties with over
100 universities and research institutes from over 30 countries and regions, they
include American Harvard University, Princeton University, Yale University,
Washington University, Landon University in England, University of Toronto in
Canada, etc.
