Overseas Alumni
It is a glorious tradition of JTU alumni that they remember and glorify their Alma Mater,
and they love their motherland. Living overseas but their hearts are with their mother
university, they care about her, support her education development financially,
academically and socially. Some of them often visit to lecture, advise and cooperate to
develop projects; some of them generously donate, set-up scholarships, encourage
teachers for their teaching, students for their hardworking; while some of them
contribute a huge financial support to build large scale facilities, improve school
conditions. They have made incredible contributions to the Alma Mater in her
education development.
















Since 1998, ten came for lecturing, they are LI Tianhe, GE shouren, JIAN Mingren, LU
Yan, NI jun, Chen Ming, NI Tao, LU ying, FENG Dagan and YAO Yong. Since "reform
and Opening to the World", the large and important constructed projects include: the
Haoran Hitech Building donated by the Taiwan alumnus YIN Zhihao (there are over 40
scientific research institutes occupy the building which have become the most
important base for advance new science and technology research); the Guangming
Stadium by the Hong Kong alumnus HU Faguang; the Academic Activity Center by the
Singapore alumnus MO Ruoyu; the Teacher's Center by the Brazil alumnus RONG
Hongyuan; the Student Center and the Club for Faculty and Staff by the Britain
alumnus QIN Ben jian; the Liuyuan by SHENG Yuedu of Japan whose grand father ,
SHENG Xuanhuai was the founder of Jiao Tong University.



















An unofficial statistics says there are today over five thousand overseas JTU alumni,
they are all over the world, they mainly live in USA, Canada, Japan, Australia, Brazil
and Hong Kong and Taiwan areas, they all have their local alumni associations and
regular activities, most of which are located in the United States, there are branches at
New York, Washington, South California, North California, Houston, Midwest,
Newfoundland, etc, there is a big reunion every five years. The 7th Reunion will take
place in the year 2000. The Hong Kong Association is very active, and closely related
to the Alma Mater whom their support is significant. On each April the eighth, alumni
who graduated for 50 years, from everywhere in the world are returning to participate
the university's anniversary celebrations and to express their warm hearts and
expectations by donating their presents or money and giving lectures or advises.
Alumni in Japan are those who went there to study there since 80's, most of them got
their Master or PhD degrees and now teaching or working in universities or large
companies. The Alumni Association of Japan was established in 1998 by over a
hundred alumni.

Jiao Tong University are here expressing deep gratitude toward her overseas alumni
for their hearts and supports, and sincerely hoping them to continue their
contributions to the Alma Mater in her entering the 21st century and for her journey to
become a world first-rate university.
